The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Set a New Track Record

Earlier this month, Jaguar reported that the company's road-legal XE SV Project 8 sedan set a new track record on a course in Monterey, California, adding this achievement to the production sedan's Nürbrugring Nordschleife lap record that was established in November of 2017.

With race car driver Randy Pobst at the wheel, the four-door sedan cemented its standing as the quickest, most-powerful road-legal Jaguar ever produced by turning in a lap time of 1:37.54 on the 2.2 mile course at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey. This performance shaved almost a full second off of the previous production sedan record time.

The Project 8 sedan is the epitome of sports sedans, with each of the 300 hand-built cars modified at the Special Vehicle Operations Technical Center in Coventry, England. This fine-tuning is required in order for the vehicle to accommodate the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine and its custom rear differential.

Project 8 vehicles are available in two models: a standard four-seat version that boasts the latest performance seats and a more heavily contoured rear to maximize support, or a two-seat Track Pack version that features lightweight racing seats and four-point harnesses.
